Are you ready for WACE 2011?
WACUHO – just saying it makes me smile. This is the conference I look forward to most of all. It’s a family reunion as much as an opportunity to gain professional development. Honestly, the programming sessions are an equally integral component of the conference as the people that you engage with.
As I reflect on my first WACUHO Conference nine years ago I was excited, but I also remember the anxiety I felt. I think I must have annoyed my carpool with the million and one questions I had making the short drive from Pomona to San Diego feel like a cross country voyage.
So, if this is your first WACE, here are some things you may want to know about:

WACE goes Dark!
The cat’s out of the bag… WACUHO’s Annual Conference & Exposition (WACE) is going dark. No, we didn’t forget to pay the electricity bill. Nor are we quite prepared to let out all the details, but this is going to be an event like no other. If you’re on Twitter – you can follow the darkness at @afterdark2011 – this would be a great #ff by the way.
Make sure you register for this year’s WACE and come check out WACUHO After Dark! More information to come.

President’s Letter
Hello WACUHO!
I hope you all had a great break and came back to work ready to go again! I am sitting in beautiful Pacific Palisade while attending WTI. While I am having a wonderful experience I do have several things that I need to update you on.
You will shortly be hearing from Emily Sandoval, WACUHO VP regarding committee sign ups. There are a couple of new or re-activated committees: sustainability and conference services. It is volunteers, over 100, serving on these committees that enable WACUHO to offer so many leadership and development opportunities to our members and member institutions. Whether it is serving on one of the RAPS or one of the Annual Conference committee you will meet new people, either mentor a new professional or be mentored, and build up your networking resources . I still remember one of my Resident Directors who attended a WTI and has never quit participating on committees because of the rich experiences that she received.
