STUDENT SERVICES PROFESSIONAL II (AREA COORDINATOR OF RESIDENTIAL
EDUCATION)- OFFICE OF HOUSING & RESIDENTIAL LIFE:
Full-time, temporary, "exempt" (with the possibility of converting to permanent)
Application review begins on May 30, 2008
Salary: $3,350.00 to $4,762.00 per month.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. (Some evening and weekend hours may be required).
Duties: Under general supervision, the incumbent will lead residence line staff including between 8-12 Resident Assistants in the daily operations of an apartment complex or residence hall complex. The incumbent will lead the coordination of all programming activities within the residence halls, and will conduct periodic reviews of programs to ensure high quality and adherence to Housing and Residential Life's mission, vision and goal statements. The incumbent will lead residence staff in the daily operations within the residence halls. The incumbent will promote multicultural awareness, a safe and healthy learning environment, individual student learning, academic success, and community living programs that meet the needs of the diverse campus community. The incumbent will provide first line professional assistance in meeting with residents regarding roommate, emotion, behavioral, academic, or overall life concerns, and will counsel students, staff, and parents during crisis situations. The incumbent will manage the educationally-based student conduct process, including the initial meeting and sanctioning process. The incumbent will serve as the professional staff member on an on-call rotating basis with other Area Coordinators of Residential Education. The incumbent will oversee the budget assigned for Residential Life, and will provide regular reports of expenditures as requested. The incumbent will participate in regional, state, and national organizations related to residential life and student development. The incumbent will perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Applicants must possess the equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a job related field. Applicants must possess the equivalent to two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field. A Master's degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience. Applicants must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Applicants must have a working knowledge of the practices, procedures, and activities with a Residential Life program, along with general knowledge of the principles of individual and group behavior. Applicants must have the ability to interpret and apply policies and provide leadership and guidance to others, along with the ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty, CSU administrators, student organizations, and other outside agencies. Applicants must have the ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
