Assistant Resident Director

The mission of the UCLA Office Residential Life is to create, safe, supportive, and inclusive living-learning communities that engage residents in order to foster their academic success, personal growth, and responsible citizenship. An entry-level professional position responsible for assisting the Resident Director with the implementation of the student development program in the residential facility. Assigned to a facility housing approximately 800-1100 students, and may work with 17-24 Resident Assistants and other student leaders. Under the supervision of the Resident Director, student staff advising and training; program oversight; Student Government advising; counseling/advising individuals; emergency/crisis response; student conduct; collaborate with Front Desk operations, Housing Assignments and Dining Services to provide student service.

This position is a full-time, live-in residence, 11-month contract position.

Requirements:

Master’s degree preferred

Understanding of student development principles and work place application.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Strong organizational and project management skills.

Experience advising and counseling individuals or groups

Experience in designing and facilitating meetings and educational workshops.

Ability to market and publicize activities in a creative way.

Knowledge of University policy.

Demonstrated experience and ability to constructively engage others in complex diversity issues in on campus housing.

Experience with planning and implementing programs/activities.

Ability to build and maintain positive and effective working relationships with clients and co-workers.

Use of computer hardware and Microsoft software

Ability to perform in emergency situations.
