Mission Bay Student Services Coordinator
RESPONSIBILITIES
OF THE POSITION
General Responsibilities
The Student Services Coordinator will assist Student Academic Affairs departments
with delivering programs and services to students studying and/or living at
the Mission Bay campus. The Student Services Coordinator will be knowledgeable
about all student services and campus departments or programs that provide services
or support to students and will develop resources to assist students with efficiently
identifying and accessing those services.
Independently initiate diverse and innovative programs and activities that enhance
the quality of student life at the Mission Bay Campus. This position will also
collaborate with campus departments, on-site University resources and off-campus
entities to develop programs and activities that support community development
for students at Mission Bay. This position will also work closely with other
departments located at Mission Bay to identify and represent student needs and
interests, when appropriate, assist those departments with delivering those
services in the most effective ways possible.
QUALIFICATIONS
o BA/BS with a major in a related field and two years of direct student services
or student affairs experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
o Working knowledge of the various programs and services offered by a student
affairs or student services department.
o Understanding of the development needs of graduate and professional students
is desirable.
o Must possess excellent customer service skills and be able to interact effectively
with others, including a diverse student population and those with diverse perspectives.
o Project management skills and the ability to lead meetings and help facilitate
groups.
o Excellent writing and communication skills. Ability to communicate clearly
and effectively in person, by telephone, in writing and via e-mail.
o Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage workload.
o Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
o Ability to create high quality presentation and communication materials.
o Strong computer skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
o Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information.
