We require a full-time, live-in professional staff responsible for assisting
the Director of Residential Life & Housing in providing quality housing
for students; maintaining a safe, healthy, learning and living environment;
addressing student conduct issues; and managing the resident assistant program.
Key job elements for this position include:
1. Assist, supervise and counsel resident students. Ensure quality housing for
students.
2. Conduct regular inspections of the student housing facility and student units;
identify problem areas, and enlist means to correct. Report, track and follow
up on maintenance issues with appropriate building managers, maintenance and
cleaning staff etc. Coordinate with outside vendors to ensure all repairs and
maintenance issues are completed in a timely manner.
3. Coordinate student check-in, check-out, and room changes, including assessing
damage charges and processing paperwork in a timely manner.
4. Respond to emergency and crisis situations, and make appropriate referrals
as needed. Provide coverage of student housing facility during off-hours and
weekends.
5. Serve as primary conduct officer for student conduct issues in housing. Administer
and implement CDC housing policies and procedures. Ensure that appropriate sanctions
are carried out in a timely manner. Maintain accurate student conduct records.
6. Supervise, train and evaluate Resident Assistant staff.
7. Provide direction and coordination for all Housing community development
activities.
8. Assume the role of emergency preparedness director and assist in training
and support of security personnel. Maintain key inventory records.
9. Work with Director of Residential Life & Housing in utilization of housing
budget. Maintain accurate records of housing budget
10. Maintain consistent and scheduled office hours at the housing facility.
11. Maintain a public relations role for the Housing office, Student Services
and the CDC community as a whole.
12. Support and participate in all appropriate and applicable Student Service
and CDC activities, events, meetings and committees.
Position Requirements:
" Outstanding
customer service skills.
" 1-2 years experience in Residential Life and Student Housing.
" Bachelors required, Master's degree in Student Personnel, Education,
Counseling or related field preferred.
" Demonstrated interpersonal skills i.e. group dynamics, human relations,
counseling, dispute resolution, and empathy.
" Creative problem-resolution skills.
" Excellent organizational, administrative and communication skills.
" An understanding of student development issues in post-secondary education.
" Strong professional standards and ability to work within a diverse stakeholder
population.
