Manager of International Student Services, UC Riverside Extension
Under the direction of the Associate Director of International Education Programs, the Manager of International Student Services is responsible for the management and development of the International Student Services unit, inclusive of the IEP Homestay Program (400 local participating families), the residential education program at International Village Apartments (300 beds/2 buildings), the Transportation and Cultural Liaison Office (15 part-time drivers), and the Activities Office, all serving up to 5,000 international students per year. This position is responsible for revenue generation through housing occupancy, excursions and transportation services; comprehensive student life programming inclusive of social and cultural activities, co-curricular conversation programs, service-learning programs and other activities that support custom programs and the general student population. The position is responsible for development and performance management of staff, overseeing daily administrative operations; student advising on matters of student life, adjustment, and health insurance; and leadership on crisis management and conflict resolution.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred)
Minimum of 6 years of related professional experience in university settings and/or international education Minimum of 2 years of international student service experience in a responsible leadership role at a university Knowledge of University processes and procedures Demonstrated track record of creating remarkable customer service experiences Skills in project managment Skills in active listening, critical thinking, negotiation, problem solving, reasoning, organizing, written and verbal communication, multitasking and intercultural competence Thorough knowledge of student affairs/student life specialization Knowledge of advising and counseling techniques and knowledge of university and departmental principles and procedures involved in risk assessment and evaluating risks as to likelihood and consequences Organizational/leadership skills to work in a fast-paced environment Skills in fostering teamwork and mentoring individuals Excellent composition and verbal skills with diverse audiences/personnel Demonstrated time management skills Knowledge of laws and policies applicable to student housing and student life in higher education
